PROJECT REVEAL: ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA INSPIRED HOME OFFICE
Hello my good people! Disclaimer, if you are a Delta, Zeta, or SG Ro; do not be shady sis and click off this post (hehe)! Maybe you will find inspiration for your next office project and hire The Vogue Room for assistance. As I digress, I wanted to pop on today to share a project we completed recently (I will not stay the month-hehe). My client haven't been living in her new GORGEOUS home for long. However, when you walk through the front entrance of her home, the office is the first thing you see. And it was definitely a sight to see (no shade). Her current office was cramping her style and thoughts, so The Vogue Room came running to her rescue. Initially, I begin with an 90 minute consultation and closely listened, and paid close attention to my client style, wants and needs. My client is a mom of 2 and a sophisticated business woman, that works remotely from home at times, and a PROUD member of Alpha Kappa Alpha incorporate sorority. She stressed the importance of displaying her achievements, need for storage and more lighting. And of course, in true AKA style she wanted to incorporate "pink" in the space too. Therefore, we secured the "budget and bag", signed the contract, and I was off to creating her design board.
This is where we started.
(sidenote: I created this design board in Polyvore, and some other company bought them out. I lost ALL of my design boards--this is the only file I could savage and it's not a really good pic, but I think you get the idea.)
We kept the existing paint color but all the existing furniture (desk, file cabinets, desk chair and accent chair) had to GO! The vision for my client was a soft, feminine, yet sophisticated look as the business woman she is! The fact that she was an AKA and wanted to incorporate pink into the space. Immediately the color scheme of blush and blue came to mind with subtle hints of green.
Therefore, first thing first we had to replace the unattractive "nipple" light. I wanted to go for a modern light fixture that would definitely make a statement. I thought this lighting (see below picture) was perfect. It was brass and lucite which would give the room a luxe feel.
Say hello to Lee, The Vogue Room certified electrician (aka my dad)!
Next, it was time to move in the rest of the furniture, and complete with styling. I wanted my client to have LOTS of lighting like she asked for. Desk lamp, and two lamps on the console would solve that problem. On the left side of the room, there is a cabinet that can store a great deal of storage. Shelves for more storage, layered with some styling for visual interest. Two accent chairs for entertaining guest that she may meet with. And a nice comfy, high back desk chair to get her work done and feel like the lady BOSS she is!
